Power generation and propulsion markets have fostered innovation at NUMECA since the company was founded in 1992. Today, FINE™/Turbo and its unmatched meshing tool Autogrid5™, a fully automatic mesh generator for blade geometries, are known as pioneering products in the field of turbomachinery simulation. FINE™/Turbo is a turbomachinery-focused CFD suite with a grid generator, solver, and post-processor integrated into a single user-friendly interface. The fast, high-accuracy, multi-block structured Navier-Stokes solver at the core of FINE™/Turbo has been developed and validated for flow phenomena characteristic of turbomachinery, e.g. steady and unsteady rotor stator interactions. The solver is capable of simulating flows from low subsonic, using artificial compressibility, to hypersonic. The FINE™/Turbo solver has low computational costs in terms of RAM and...

Surface Line Facility A Surface Line facility has been added to WELLFLO. The Surface Line facility will allow the users to add a Surface Line of up to 1 mile at the Wellhead. This Surface Line facility allows for elevation, diameter and roughness changes. However, it only supports a user specified fluid temperature profile for the Surface Line regardless of whether temperature calculations are done for the well. The Surface Line facility can be added to the Wellhead Facilities under the following conditions: 1. The Well Direction is set to Production. 2. The Parametric option is NOT enabled. 3. The case does NOT have a Surface Line already added. Only one Surface Line is allowed to be added per case. The Surface Line facility has three tabs, a Profile, a Dimensions and a Stream Tab. On the Profile tab, the user can specify the label for the Surface Line, the Elevation Profile (in terms of Distance and Elevation), and the Fluid Temperature at each elevation point. On the Dimensions tab, the user can enter Diameter and Roughness information, including any changes along the length of the elevation profile. Page 4of 6WELLFLO 8.3 Release Notes On the Stream tab, the user can specify the pressure at the downstream end of the Surface Line, as long as the pressure is not already specified at the wellhead or bottomhole. This new feature offers users the flexibility to create much more accurate models of their wells; including the interaction of the well with near wellhead surface piping. WELLFLO – Drillbench Data Sharing WELLFLO now was the capability to share well geometry information with Drillbench using the “Import From Drillbench” and “Export to Drillbench” functions found in the File Menu. Page 5of 6WELLFLO 8.3 Release Notes The geometry information that is currently shared includes: 1) Drilling Profile information including: a. Vertical profile b. 2D profile c. 2D (KOP) profile d. 2D (TVD vs MD) profile e. 3D (XYZ) profile f. 3D (Min Curvature) profile. 2) Production Casing geometry. 3) External Casing geometry. 4) Tubing geometry. When the user chooses to export data from WELLFLO to Drillbench, the standard “Save” dialog will appear. The user can then select to either save the WELLFLO geometry information to an existing Drillbench (DML) file, or store it to a new file. If saving to an existing DML file, only the drilling profile and tubular geometry information will be overwritten. After the user has selected the DML file to export to, WELLFLO will export the geometry information, and then provide a status message. Similarly, when the user chooses to Import data from Drillbench into WELLFLO, the standard Open File Dialog will appear. The user can Select the Drillbench file to import from, and WELLFLO will load the Drilling Profile and well geometry data. If WELLFLO detects an overlap or disconnect between drill string sections or casing sections that is not supported by the software, the user will see an error message. It is expected that this import/export process will allow a much more streamlined workflow for clients who are using both WELLFLO and Drillbench for the simulation of their steady‐state and dynamic drilling operations. Future releases of WELLFLO will include extensions of this feature to include other types of data used in the flow modelling of drilling operations.
